Obama’s Iran Phone Call To Progressive Jews Included Anti-Semitic Memes And A Call For Help

President Obama’s Thursday evening phone call organized by the Anti-Israel group J Street and other progressive Jewish groups could be summed up in one sentence. Please help because, those rich people are fighting this wonderful Iran deal because they don’t like me and they want war just like they did in Iraq .

In the 20 minute phone call (embedded below) Obama said over and over that opponents of the Iran deal come from the same “array of forces that got us into the Iraq war,” he said a “bunch of billionaires who happily finance super PACs” are “putting the squeeze on members of Congress.” A claim that belies the facts as the Israeli government recommended against the Iraq War. However since the war began anti-Semites such a Pat Buchanan have been pushing the false meme that the Jews pushed America into war. Apparently Obama agrees with that meme. A point more than one participant in the group noticed

Also the protesting the P5+1 agreement with Iran go way beyond the bunch of billionaires financing super pacs. Perhaps the president missed the news of twelve thousand New Yorkers showing up in Times Square to protest the deal and put pressure on politicians.

The Republican Jewish Coalition sent out a statement objecting to the president’s language during the call

During a conference call with supporters this evening, President Obama said, “The lobbying taking place on the other side is fierce, well-financed and relentless.”

Brooks responded, “Some of us have been around long enough to remember how Jewish groups – including Jewish Republicans – came down hard on the first President Bush for similar remarks.

“Apparently, the President’s claim that he ‘welcomes a robust debate’ was just rhetoric – like his administration’s repeated pledges to make Iran submit to ‘anytime, anywhere’ inspections.

“Jewish leaders need to hold President Obama to the same standards they held the first President Bush. And President Obama should stick to the facts and stop demonizing Americans who are rightly skeptical of his dubious deal with the Tehran regime.”

Obama used the call to urge his progressive friends for help.

“I’m meeting these members of Congress. And they don’t really buy the arguments of the opponents, but I can tell when they start getting squishy. And they start getting squishy because they’re feeling political heat. And you guys have to counteract that with the facts.”

And he concluded with:

“It’s pretty rare where something of such consequence is so clearly in front of us … and you guys have the chance to make history by influencing this whole process. Don’t just sit back and wait, and after the fact, suddenly complain.”

It is not known if the president’s words motivated the progressive Jews to act before those rich lobbyists convince those Jews who got us into the Iraq war to go out push those squishy member of congress to vote against this wonderful agreement.
